I'm not a psychologist, but I'd guess cannot
The man is a narcissist. That's undeniable. But he seems to be even beyond that. I'd have to think his brain is wired differently so that he doesn't understand facts the way normal people do. I remember in 2015/2016 Mark Burnett saying Trump would say The apprentice was #1 in his time slot, Burnett would correct him that actually no, it was not, but Trump would carry on saying they were #1. He simply waves off undeniable facts that are presented to him. They don't penetrate. It is one the worst features to have in a President, as they have to analyze a multitude of facts, weigh the scenarios, and make decisions based on that. If Trump can't process information correctly, he isn't making decisions based on the best available information. It is a national security threat.
I think we are seeing that in some of his bizarre decisions to pull troops out of Germany, abandon exercises with South Korea, abandon the Kurds, abandon the Iran deal, pull out of the Paris Climate deal. All of those decisions are about Trump, not America. It's not healthy and it endangers us.
